Avalore Dump Week 13
"Burn the Price" Edition
Every time I write these I’m astonished that the week number is so high. We’ve done 13 of these so far?? Crazy. And we trended on Twitter last week! Thank you to all my communist readers.
I kind of wish I had put the price in every article that way we could track it over time. Not gonna start that this week though! Price doesn’t exist! Just a figment of your imagination. Let’s do the news.
Trouble in Nochill Paradise?
I’ll be honest, I have not done much in the Nochill ecosystem. I can appreciate it and think it’s one of the strongest communities we have (probably THE strongest), but personally the Milady thing isn’t my vibe and I could never find a PFP that resonated with me. I risk angering the Nochillio hivemind by writing about this, so please be gentle!
Yes, I understand that the token came first. But at this point, the NFT seems fairly disconnected from the token. The thing I care about most in crypto is community, and for me NFTs are much more centered around community than a token. Does the NFT still have success if it’s completely separate from the token? How would Nochillios do if they were called “Girthios” or something? Horrible name! Never mind!
Idk, the whole thing reads to me like the Nochill founder crashing out over people liking the NFT more than the token. I get that it’s annoying for him, but it seems obvious to me. NFTs are made to last longer than tokens as they’re harder to sell, so people will generally baghold them more. The associated images allow people to make them their personality. Just a more interesting asset class altogether.
Given that they’re not linked by any sort of hideous ERC-404 monstrosity (sorry $HERESY sorry Wrath) naturally people will drift away from the token towards the NFT. That’s life!
Blaze Finally Launched!!! (Sort of)
We had our first test stream on Blaze! I was kind of hoping this would implode because it would make for better content for this article, but it actually went pretty well. There was a little stuttering, but there was no gameplay so it was hard to tell if it mattered. The team will probably get that ironed out by the full launch next week. Overall a very successful first try I think.
As you can tell from the above screenshot, the platform seemed to have most of the features you’d expect from a service like Twitch. The subscribing/tipping was all in $BLAZE, so you need to send some to your wallet to use that. I’m not sure what the full onboarding flow will look like for web2 users, but I guess we’ll find out next week.
It sounds like they will be rolling out next week with a list of approved streamers, and they will start giving out hefty rewards to early users of the platform. You may remember that they raised 1.3M on the token launch and only added about 250k in liquidity. That leaves them with a milly in USDC to incentivize early users (the team does not need to be paid, obviously).
It will be interesting to see what happens with that money and we’ll see if they can use it to lure web2 streamers/viewers over to the platform. Right now it seems very barebones—I’ll be curious to see how it gets better over time. I personally hope it does well because I am VERY ready to dump my tokens on the normies. Onboard them!
Arena is Multichain?
First let me preface this by saying that what Arena has done this week is obviously good. Letting people deposit from other chains in order to use the app can only be a positive thing for onboarding.
Ok! Now that that’s out of the way, let’s address the insane idea that Arena is being “dragged down” by AVAX. First let’s look at the most obvious data point:
If you had the chance to buy either token since June, AVAX would have been the better buy. Of course the AVAX token has not done well either, but pretty much nothing except ZCASH has. Solana charts look just as bad.
Arena has also received insane amounts of support from the AVAX team, being heralded as a potential “killer app” of the chain. The idea that they would get this kind of priority treatment anywhere else is laughable.
To be clear, I would guess that Jason and the team are quite happy with being on AVAX and don’t think they actually believe they’d be better off somewhere else. This sentiment seems to be coming mainly from (misinformed) holders. Slow news week! Gotta whip up some strawmen!
That’s all I’ve got for this week! Lots to look forward to next week with the full Blaze launch and more NobsPoints updates on the way. We will do the radio show AGAIN on Monday—we think last one went a bit better than the first. It’s only up from here!
