"Cranky salmon" Edition
Wow, we’ve made it through a full length NFL regular season! Wait they play 18 weeks now. Never mind! Almost!
Anyway, for those following my current marriage saga, today is the first day of my honeymoon! I intend to breeze through this as there are sunsets to see and all-inclusive drinks to drink. I actually wrote an entire filler article about what I’d do if I was made president of AVAX for a day that way I wouldn’t have to write this now, but Frogwell has baited me with a good cover art. Let’s crack on.
Builder Szn?
The first thing that caught my eye this week was this post from Crypto Wizard about how AvaLabs (FDN?) doesn’t support builders enough. I disagree with this a lot actually. I think AvaLabs is pretty willing to talk grants with people once you’ve proven to have a working product that people enjoy.
I like what Polypup and Blaze are doing, but if I were AvaLabs I would not be pouring money into their tokens. There was maybe a small window right when these projects launched to crime it up, but at this point it seems like the market is just not interested in them.
Let me be clear, having Polypup build innovative stuff is great and I don’t want to discourage that. However, I think lots of people don’t really care about DeFi to begin with, so tokenizing it isn’t much better. On top of that, the underlying token ($BLACK) went to zero so that didn’t help. As we see with AVAX price itself, tech alone isn’t enough.
In terms of Blaze, I like what they’re building too but for now there is just not enough draw for people to actually use the platform. Hopefully this will change in the future, but I don’t see why FDN should be propping up the token price at this stage. It’s not their job to throw money at tokens that the market doesn’t want—they should just focus on amplifying projects that already have motion.
Memecoin Pumps are Fake??
If you don’t have this incredibly salty inhuman guy muted by now, here’s a good opportunity to do so. Go ahead, I’ll wait for you to come back.
I would like to break some news to my readers here: all memecoin pumps are fake! Sometimes by KOLs, sometimes by Foundation bids, sometimes by a group of friends with good supply control. This is how the space works, folks. Nothing else matters except orchestrating the pump. This is what Solana did so well and how it obtained so many users.
You can’t just launch a funny coin and have it do well—people with weight need to throw their support behind it (aka “shill”) in order for price to go up. Sorry for bursting this bubble.
Bears and Salmon Round 1 Complete
Bears and Salmon round 1 acceptances are done! And with that, of course lots of whining about not getting accepted. Like I said above, the reality is this space is all about making connections and becoming some form of insider—whether that be KOL cabal level pumps or even just making yourself known so you can get accepted to these kinds of things.
There are so many posts from people I’ve never heard of before asking why they haven’t gotten in. I literally spend my entire day trolling Twitter to find content for this article, if I haven’t seen your name I’m 100% sure the people reviewing your application haven’t either.
Also STOP TAGGING ME!!! STOP DMING ME!!! I AM NOT INVOLVED HERE!!!!111!!!! Sorry my sanity is fraying and this is pushing me over the edge. If you didn’t make it into this presale try posting on Twitter more often, that’s my advice to you.
Another exciting wrinkle is that people are blaming “the cabal” (DWS? Nobs? Goose? Idk who is cabal anymore) for rigging approvals in their favor. I don’t know how many times I have to repeat this, so I will make the font bigger for you:
If you don’t like how something is being built, build it better yourself!
It really is that easy. Don’t like that the same people seem to get accepted in Bears and Salmon as Wink/Blub? Launch your own! Don’t like how Pointsmarket works? Build your own version! It really is that simple. I don’t expect critical thinking from a former Boi 100 member but let’s just really hammer that point home.
